O’Brien’s Garage are delighted to launch a new Sales Apprenticeship Programme and are seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to join their team as a Sales Apprentice in their Mazda Dealership in Midleton Co Cork.
As a Sales Apprentice, you will be asked to deliver an outstanding customer experience, while following a defined learning programme set out by the company in conjunction with SOLAS.
As part of the programme, a senior member of the O’Briens sales team will be assigned as your mentor who will assist you with on the job learning and develop your skills in line with apprentice programme.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Follow up every sales opportunity through the company website leads, customer enquiry calls and emails
- Ensure cars are advertised online
- Follows the sales process, designed to achieve maximum results from the available sales opportunities
- Deliver the highest level of customer satisfaction continuously
- Achieve the individual objectives communicated by the Mentor
- Sell an agreed volume of new and used cars communicated by the Mentor
- Pursue and achieve incremental sales and profit opportunities through the sale of cars, finance and accessory sales
- Provide advice to new and existing customers regarding the various products that are available with the sales of their new / used vehicle
- Participates in external promotional activities to raise the profile of the brand and generate sales opportunities
- Develops and maintain comprehensive product knowledge in respect of all
vehicles, prices, promotions, funding and taxation of vehicles
- Maintains good relationships with customers by meeting and exceeding their expectations
- Undertake all administration requirements of the position to include relevant paperwork and reports
- Actively prospect for new customers by cold calling, emails and use of the appropriate databases
- Qualify the customers’ needs and present the dealerships products and services which will enable these needs to be met
- Conducts a structured and professional vehicle handover in accordance with the vehicle handover checklist, guide and customer pack for the appropriate product
- Maintains regular contact with all customers both with pre and post-sale
- Handles customer queries using the necessary skills and resolving the issue to the mutual satisfaction of the customer and the business
Skills & Competencies

Minimum Apprenticeship Entry Requirements
- Must be aged 18 or older at time of commencing
- Must have Grade O6/H7 or above in 5 Leaving Cert Subjects or
- A full QQI Level 5 or a Higher
- Applicants for whom English is not a first language must demonstrate proficiency in English and hold a minimum of a B1 CEFR or recognised equivalent.
- Mature applicants aged 21 years and over without a Level 5 Qualification
will also be considered following an interview and submission of supporting documents.
Junior Sales Marketing Executive
O’Brien’s Garage are seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to join their team as a Junior Sales and Marketing Executive in their Mazda Dealership in Midleton Co Cork.
The ideal candidate will have customer facing experience but not necessarily in the motor industry. Full on the job training will be provided.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and implementing sales and marketing strategies to achieve dealership goals and
- Collaborate with the sales and marketing team to generate leads and identify potential
- Conduct market research to gather insights on customer preferences, trends, and competitor
- Support the sales team in building and maintaining strong customer relationships through effective communication and follow-ups.
- Assist in organizing and attending promotional events, trade shows, and community engagement
- Create engaging content for digital marketing campaigns, including social media posts, blog articles, and email
- Assist in managing the dealership’s online presence by updating website content and monitoring social media

Vehicle Valetor
O’Brien’s Garage are looking for an experienced Vehicle Valetor to join their growing team in their Mazda Dealership in Midleton. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2-3 years’ valeting experience, either in a Car Valeting Business or Dealership.
Roles & Responsibilities
The main roles & responsibilities will be to:
- Complete full vehicle valets to a high standard in a timely manner, this includes but is not limited to:
o Wet Working including washing exterior, engine compartment, wheel arches, door ledge
o Dry off Vehicle
o Steam clean and lacquer engine compartment o Treat minor paintwork damage
o Hand wax Vehicle
o Treat rubber mouldings
o Clean exterior and interior windows with no streaks/cloth marks o Remove wax from Vehicle exterior
o Vacuum interior of Vehicle including ashtray, door compartments and o boot area
o Shampoo seats and carpets o Treat vinyl areas
- Ensure all sales vehicles on display are maintained to a high standard at all times
- Ensure all customer facing sales display areas are kept neat and tidy at all times, this includes showroom area.
- Ensure the valeting area and surrounding workspace is kept neat and tidy at the end of each working day
- Carry out final inspection of vehicle before handing over to sales team for display/customer delivery.

Service Advisor
O’Brien’s Garage are looking for an After-Sales/Service Advisor to join their growing After-Sales Department in their Mazda Dealership in Midleton Co Cork. The ideal candidate will have customer facing experience but not necessarily in the motor industry. Full on the job training will be provided.
Roles & Responsibilities
The main roles & responsibilities will be to:
- Implement and monitor the:
- Workshop booking system to maximise capacity & efficiency
- Job Card System
- Vehicle Health Check System
- Liaise with the workshop controller to ensure the daily diary is sufficiently booked for the day & week ahead.
- Liaise with the workshop to ensure that the customers’ needs are communicated to the Technicians and negotiate any actions required to ensure that the Customers’ requirements are met.
- Monitor workshop productivity, efficiency and profitability and take corrective actions if necessary
- Liaise with Parts Manager to ensure efficient supply of parts for work booked in or for any authorised additional work required.
- Get a timeline for parts on back order to re-book customer in
- Meet & Greet Customers arriving for appointments. Establish a clear understanding of any symptom or problem the customer has with their vehicle.
- Liaise with customers while their vehicle is in the workshop to inform them of the estimate of the costs involved in any additional work and obtain authorisation for all such additional work.
- Ensure that the Customers vehicle is ready for collection at the pre-agreed time. When the customer arrives to collect their car, explain all service and repair work completed item by item and how this is reflected in the invoice.
- Liaise with the Vehicle Sales Department to ensure reconditioning work is carried out in a timely manner.
- Maintain and manage the standards and procedures in accordance with company and/or distributors policy.
- Maintain accurate and up to date invoicing and payment from trade, credit & retail customers
- Assume some appointed duties of other staff members in their absence.

Motor Technician
O’Brien’s Garage are looking for an Experienced Qualified Motor Technician to join their team in their Mazda Dealership in Midleton. The successful candidate will be a highly self-motivated and organised individual who can work both from their own initiative and as part of a team.
Roles & Responsibilities
The main roles & responsibilities will be to:
- Carry out routine servicing & maintenance on vehicles as per the manufacturer specification.
- Carry out Vehicle Health Checks (VHC).
- Conduct vehicle diagnostics and checks to identify the action required to remedy vehicle faults.
- Testing vehicles to ensure the repairs carried out were successful.
Skills & Competencies
- Be a Qualified Motor Vehicle Technician
- Experience with all aspects of vehicle repairs and servicing, franchise dealer experience preferable.
- High quality work ethic with attention to detail being of utmost importance.
- Have excellent communication & IT skills, competent at identifying and clearly explaining additional work required and using our VHC system
- Be process driven and have the ability to clearly complete all job card write-ups, for all jobs, with a thorough understanding of brand warranty requirements, including back-up documentation required.
- Work well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
